Priya(Sridevi) is the daughter of Rajasekhar(Girish Karnad), a rich industrialist. She falls in love with Vijay(Rajnikanth), a photographer, after he rescues her from some rowdies. Going against her parents, she runs away with Vijay and they get married. The differences in their status and the attitude of Priya’s parents leads to some friction between the couple and finally, a small fight blows out of proportion and ends up with Priya returning to her parents’ house. There she gives birth to a son and is all ready to mend fences with Vijay. But her father’s machinations prevent this. He lulls Priya into believing that her child was still-born while Vijay raises the kid.Like Alaipayuthey, Naan Adimai Illai too doesn’t stop with the lovers overcoming all opposition to unite and proceeds to focus on their life after they marry too. Unlike Manirathnam’s movie, the romance here is a small portion of the film and the little that there is, is handled unimaginatively and in a rushed fashion. Both Rajni rescuing Sridevi from the rowdies and Sridevi falling for him are cinematic and we never connect with them as lovers. Its not only in the romance department that the director seems wishy-washy. Rajni’s meetings with Girish Karnad too lack fire with the writing seeming a little tame. As always, the director overdoes things by presenting the standard caricature of a ladies club-frequenting woman as Sridevi’s mother. U2 performed this at halftime of the 2002 Super Bowl between the Patriots and Rams. As they played, names of victims in the September 11 attacks were scrolled on a giant screen. At the end of the performance Bono opened his jacket to reveal an American flag in the lining. “Where the Streets Have No Name” is more like the U2 of old than any of the other songs on the LP, because it’s a sketch – I was just trying to sketch a location, maybe a spiritual location, maybe a romantic location. I was trying to sketch a feeling. I often feel very claustrophobic in a city, a feeling of wanting to break out of that city and a feeling of wanting to go somewhere where the values of the city and the values of our society don’t hold you down. An interesting story that someone told me once is that in Belfast, by what street someone lives on you can tell not only their religion but tell how much money they’re making – literally by which side of the road they live on, because the further up the hill the more expensive the houses become. Barofsky, the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP), testifying before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, about interest payments made to banks that keep their TARP funds and other government (taxpayer) bailout money with the Federal Reserve, instead of making loans to struggling Americans (the original intent of the TARP, remember?) The Fed makes generous interest payments to the banks for “parking” their “excess reserves” at the Fed. And guess who will end up paying for this “interest” given to the banks, and everything else? That’s right, you and me, John and Jane Q. Suckers!! The dumb, fat sheep! By the way, Neil M. Barofsky is a good guy here — don’t beat up on him. He’s in immediate danger of losing his job (if not his life) becauses he’s revealing too many of the Temple’s dark secrets. Barofsky deserves our full support. Lil’ Ryan was born Ryan Williams Jr. in Lithonia, GA August 28th, 2003. By the tender age of two Ryan could recall from memory any song he would hear on the radio verbatim. His Mother and Father knew he would have a mindset for making music. It became evident during rap battles with his mother over instrumental beats; Ryan quickly grasped the fundamentals of rap music and went from memorizing popular songs to writing and performing his own lyrics. Ryan’s first recorded collaboration was with rapper OJ da Juiceman, “When I Get Big” at the age of five. Two years later at the age of seven his passion for music had grown wanting to become more than just a rapper, but to actually start his own record label, and his curiosity and determination allowed him to create FirstGradeMuzik, inspired by being a rapper in the first grade. He has done musical collaborations with many mainstream artists including J. Futuristic (Jay Money), Rich Kidz, and Young LA to name a few. Lil’ Ryan’s music aspires to make going to school, going to church, and being responsible, cool again.
